Our History

  • The business of Broadhead Peel Rhodes has its roots back in the early 1970’s when Graham Broadhead commenced trading on his own account. Mike Peel was a friend of Graham’s from an earlier time when they were both articled clerks.
  • In 1978 Mike joined Graham in partnership, following a stint as a consultant with what is now KPMG.
  • David Rhodes joined them in partnership in 1982 and his name was added to the list. Since that date there have been a number of changes within the business but the brand name remains the same.
  • In 1992 Robert Brook was admitted to the partnership shortly after Graham had decided to retire. Robert traded in partnership with David and Mike until Mike’s retirement in 2003.
  • In 2007 the business was struck with tragedy when David Rhodes was taken ill and diagnosed with a brain tumour. David sadly passed away in December 2007.
  • The business has grown organically since its formation. The only acquisition of fees was made in 1978 when the business of AV Hood & Co was acquired. We take great pride in the fact that there are a number of clients from the AV Hood days still with us to this day. In a number of cases theses have been passed through the family generations.
    Many of our staff have been with us for many years. Ruth Clough is our longest serving team member and she has been with us since the AV Hood acquisition.

Our practice has always been run as a business, as opposed to having principals who have no, or only a minor stake in its success or failure. The experience we have gained in running our own business has helped us in advising our clients.
