Changes to Corporation Tax Filing
Switching from paper to online Company Tax Returns and electronic payment – 1 April 2011
H M Revenue & Customs have announced that from 1 April 2011 onwards, all companies and organisations will have to file their Company Tax Return online for any accounting period ending after 31 March 2010.
We have been filing online on behalf of our clients for many years, and are currently updating our software in order that we can meet this new requirement. If we currently submit a Corporation Tax Return on your behalf, we will continue to do so, and you do not need to take any action.
We would like to make you aware of another change that is being introduced on the same date. H M Revenue & Customs will require all corporation tax and related payments made after 1 April 2011 to be paid electronically.
Many businesses are already making VAT and PAYE payments electronically, and this new requirement should not be a problem. However, you will need to provide your Corporation Tax reference number when making the payment to ensure that it is correctly allocated to your company and to the correct accounting period. As usual, we will be advising our clients of due dates for payment, and will be providing this information as part of our service.
If you are not used to making electronic payments, or if you need further information, please call us to discuss, or click on the H M Revenue & Customs link below.
